Encode x NEAR Horizon Hackathon Powered by NEAR DevHub — Prizewinners and Summary
The Encode x NEAR Horizon, powered by NEAR DevHub, Hackathon has come to a successful close, marking a significant achievement since its start on 19th September. Over the course of four intense weeks, a vibrant ecosystem of devs, product visionaries and web3 enthusiasts came together, leveraging the robust capabilities of the NEAR protocol.
Supported by pivotal entities Proximity and Mintbase, alongside the resources offered by NEAR DevHub, the hackathon was characterized by its comprehensive educational workshops and substantial bounties that fostered a stimulating environment for all participants.
The finale showcased technological innovation as contenders presented their creations, aiming for a share of the prize pool. Hosting this assembly of talent has been an honour, with the resulting array of pioneering projects highlighting the potential within the NEAR community.
The journey is not over yet! We invite all winning teams and any other teams who are building on NEAR to apply with their projects for the Encode x NEAR Horizon Accelerator!
How it Worked
Our hackathon participants had four weeks to build their projects and submit them for judging. During this time, they also had the opportunity to participate in several events related to the hackathon:
- Decentralized frontends on BOS: best practices and winning examples (Boris Polania from NEAR)
- Decentralize Any Frontend with BOS (MJ from Proximity)
- Easy onboarding: insights in Account abstraction, Meta transaction and how to leverage Mintbase SDK and Wallet (Luis Freitas from Mintbase)
- Becoming the Next Big Thing in Web3 with NEAR Horizon (Ken Miyachi from NEAR)

NEAR Product Track:
NEAR Reputation Scorer — $10,000 in HZN credits
The NEAR Reputation Scorer is a pioneering tool designed for the NEAR network that uses machine learning and mathematical models to analyze on-chain data. This enables developers to evaluate the reputation of any NEAR wallet address, empowering them to tailor web3 experiences. Its capabilities include targeting committed early adopters for airdrops, creating quests and loyalty programs based on user engagement, and improving onboarding for newcomers, thereby fostering sustained community engagement.
NEAR Developer Track:
Neard — $2,000 in NEAR
Neard serves as an integrated data solution for the NAER Protocol, blending technologies like Python, Rust, Airflow, and NextJS to optimize data handling on the blockchain. This tool simplifies data engineering tasks, from ETL processes to task scheduling, allowing developers to efficiently manage and utilize NEAR Protocol data. It supports a range of functions including data extraction, transformation, loading, compression, and partitioning, thereby boosting developer productivity and fostering the creation of data-centric applications within the NEAR ecosystem.
NEAR Community Tools — $2,000 in NEAR
The Community Tools project on NEAR Protocol has created a unique user experience on platforms like Twitter and Github by showcasing custom badges for community members. Using specialized Adapters for semantic page analysis, the project enables the dynamic display of badges, each a BOS-component linked to its community. This not only makes NEAR community members stand out, simplifying new member onboarding, but also helps visitors recognize active participants, fostering a more engaged ecosystem. The initiative also paves the way for managing these components through a community or DAO, underscoring the value of rewarding engagement and involvement within the NEAR community.
Magic Build — $2,000 in NEAR
Magic Build is a dynamic tool that simplifies the creation of front-end interfaces for multi-chain smart contracts on the BOS. It allows developers to quickly generate intuitive front-end applications that seamlessly interact with BOS, enhancing user experience with minimal effort.
NEAR Transport Intel — $1,000 in NEAR
The project introduces a comprehensive suite of NEAR Protocol-based tools tailored for the fleet and logistics industry, designed to bolster efficiency, safety, and sustainability across connected vehicle operations. It enables citizens, fleet operators, and local governments to report and manage road incidents effectively. By harnessing NEAR robust infrastructure, the project offers monitoring tools for traffic management and accident prevention and includes organizational and visualization resources, asset management systems, NFT creation tools, and privacy-preserving measures. Emphasizing automation and cost efficiency, the solution integrates BOS developer components and Mintbase SDK to facilitate a seamless mobility ecosystem for various stakeholders, including transport ministries and fleet organizations.
NEAR Student Track:
airdrop-template — $1,000 in NEAR
The project consists of a highly functional airdrop template constructed on the NEAR Protocol using TypeScript and Rust for smart contract development. It features two distinct BOS components that enhance the user experience:
- The first component serves as a contract factory, enabling the creation of the airdrop mechanism seamlessly.
- The second component integrates a user interface that not only connects to Mintbase to fetch and display NFTs but also facilitates the purchase of these NFTs directly within the component. Additionally, it allows the holders of specific NFTs to claim their airdrop tokens, creating a streamlined process for token distribution.
Proximity Bounty Winners
GMX on BOS — $1,500
The developed BOS frontend component serves as a gateway for placing leveraged LONG/SHORT orders on the GMX decentralized perpetual exchange. This tool operates compatibly with both the Arbitrum Goerli Testnet for experimental and testing purposes and the Arbitrum One Mainnet for live trading, offering users a versatile and efficient trading interface within the NEAR ecosystem.
Friendtech on BOS — $750
The created BOS components for Friendtech provide a user-friendly interface for searching, buying, and selling shares seamlessly. Incorporated with a Next.js gateway, these components facilitate fully decentralized and open-source access to Friendtech on the NEAR platform, enhancing the user experience with the reliability of blockchain technology.
Fidgety Widget — $750
It’s a developer-centric guide that paves the way for JavaScript and Ethereum experts to transition into NEAR with ease. The highlight is a DeFi widget which simplifies liquidity management through the Uniswap V2 protocol. This tool is not just efficient but secure, leveraging the robust NEAR blockchain. Enhanced with dynamic wallet data integration from Airstack, and the seamless operability of NEAR BOS tools, it stands as a bridge between Ethereum’s DeFi framework and NEAR technological prowess. The aim is clear: to capitalize on NEAR BOS’s reusable components to usher in a new era of secure, decentralized frontends and open up a fluid channel for liquidity with NEAR reliable infrastructure.
Mintbase Bounty Winners
MintAI — $1,500
Mintai is the easiest way to generate and mint NFTs on NAER! This is a template app based on the Minsta app. With Mintai you can generate AI images using Stability and mint them directly to the NEAR blockchain using Mintbase SDK and the Mintbase wallet.
AI NFTs — $1,500
AI NFTs is an innovative platform that fuses artist creativity with AI to generate and mint distinctive NFT artworks on the NEAR testnet via the Mintbase SDK. The platform’s minter feature enables users to transform text and doodles into digital art, which can then be minted as NFTs after adding pertinent details and uploading to Arweave. Alongside this, AI NFTs hosts a marketplace, adapted from Mintbase’s templates and documentation, specifically tailored for these AI-generated pieces, allowing for viewing and direct purchasing from the minters if listed. The backbone of this ecosystem is the nftaiartistry.mintspace2.testnet smart contract, deployed on the NEAR Testnet, which authorizes minters to create and sell AI NFTs within this unique marketplace.
Mintmeacoffee — $1,500
A novel dApp has been developed to creatively support the digital community through the minting of coffee-themed NFTs, enabling decentralized aid for developers, students, and freelancers. Utilizing the Mintbase SDK, this dApp simplifies authentication using a NEAR wallet, streamlines the minting process, and facilitates image uploads. A proxy contract grants minting permissions from the Mintbase NFT contract, fostering a unique generative AI-powered coffee NFT collection. Beyond the artistic aspect, recipients can receive personalized messages from their supporters, with the prospect of including various asset donations accompanying the NFTs in the future. Aimed at showcasing individual projects and profiles, possibly integrated with social.near data, the platform serves as both a discovery and support hub and a practical template demonstrating Mintbase’s ecosystem integration.

An eight-week online programme designed to transform the most promising hackathon and early-stage projects worldwide into fully-fledged startups.

Throughout the program, participants will gain valuable insights on product development, fundraising, go-to-market strategies, and more, all aimed at turning their innovative ideas into successful ventures.
